Radio Direction Finding or RDF'ing is a very exciting aspect of Ham Radio. The best thing about taking part in a RDF exercise is that you don't have to be a licensed ham at all. You simply need a simple home brewed antenna and a receiver that you can hear the "bunny" or "fox" on. The "bunny" or "fox" is the name given to the hidden transmitter. This transmitter can be either a manned transmitter or unmanned.

The goal of RDF is to find the transmitter. In practical terms hams use RDF to find transmitters are troublesome to hams, those that are causing interference. To practice the art of RDF hams practice with small low power transmitters and have a good time finding these.
